Saint Irene church of Embaros

A white church with a red-tiled roof, featuring a bell tower and several arched entrances. The structure is set against a mountainous backdrop under a partly cloudy sky.

The village of Embaros is located on the southwestern foothills of Mount Dikti, at an altitude of 430 meters, surrounded by the lush valley of the Baritis River.

Embaros has around 430 residents, most of whom are engaged in agriculture, particularly known for their production of the herb dictamnus.

Embaros has a relatively large number of churches, with 18 in total, including the Church of Saint George, the Archangel Michael, Saints Anargyroi, the double-aisled Church of the Holy Cross and Saint Nikitas, the Church of the Virgin Mary, the Holy Trinity, and the newer Church of Saint Irene.
