Imeri Gramvousa

Panoramic view of a coastal landscape featuring a crescent-shaped beach with clear turquoise water, a ship docked on a pier, and rugged cliffs surrounding the bay.

Imeri Gramvousa hosts the remains of a Venetian fort, which still stands at a height of 137 meters over the beach, left behind by Cretan insurgents, who were compelled to live as pirates during the Greek War of Independence.

One legend tells that there is a great treasure buried in the island.

Also, the old wreck that was abandoned many years ago near the beach has become an characteristic part of the landscape.

Imeri Gramvousa faces the beautiful Balos lagoon, a famous tourist attraction.
