Gray kingbird

A small bird with a grayish-blue head and white underparts perches on a branch of a tree.

The gray kingbird is a passerine bird in the tyrant flycatchers family Tyrannidae.

The species was first described on the island of Hispaniola, then called Santo Domingo, thus the dominicensis name.

Like other kingbirds, these birds aggressively defend their territory against intruders, including mammals and much larger birds.
