Agia Sofia cave
The Agia Sofia cave is carved into the western wall of the Topolia Gorge, slightly south of the village of Koutsomatados.
To reach it, you have to climb 250 steps cut into the rock.
The cave is almost circular in shape, 50 m in diameter. Its height varies, reaching 20 metres in places. The entrance is a 25 m-wide porch, at the left end of which is the small chapel of Agia Sofia (Saint Sophia).
The cave is of archaeological and historical interest. It is thought to have been occupied as early as the Neolithic period.
Its chapel is often the setting for baptisms, as well as the feast of the patron saint on April 13.
