A typical Dutch country village… from the past

A scenic view of a traditional Dutch village with green and white houses, a windmill, and a field of wheat being harvested.

History can be viewed from many angles. That versatility is reflected in the Dutch Open Air Museum. Here you will find buildings, objects and stories of up to two hundred years old.

While walking through the green museum park, you will discover that people in the past had about the same questions and problems as we do now. You experience how people lived with each other and with their environment. How they dealt with setbacks, celebrated when things went well and tried to make their lives better.
