We had arranged to meet up with other members of my photography club for an outing on the theme of “monochrome.”

I picked a red marble. Others picked green, yellow, or blue.

So I had to wander around the Montmartre area for about two hours to find subjects to photograph, with a predominance of red.

I was lucky, because anyone who has ever visited the Montmartre district in Paris will have noticed that many of the shop fronts, restaurants, and bars are predominantly red.

In the surrounding streets, a number of buildings also have walls and doors that are at least partially red.

This photo is not original at all, many photographers have already taken it.

But I was there, on the slope in front of the Sacré-Cœur on Montmartre hill, so why not try it myself?

So no, the building is not collapsing and disappearing under the lawn. It's just a rotation effect, as the building is straight and the lawn is sloped.

The 39th International Athletics Meeting of Montgeron took place on Friday June 27, 2025 at the Stade Pierre de Coubertin, and was the occasion to see Pascal Martinot-Lagarde (a.k.a. PML) run the 110m hurdles one last time, finishing 3rd in the final with a time of 13“47.

With 12 international medals to his name among seniors, Pascal Martinot-Lagarde has notably held the French record in the 110m hurdles since 2014, set at 12“95. He also won the European title in 2018.

Since June 27, 2025, the Montgeron track has been named “Pascal Martinot-Lagarde”, a beautiful tribute from the club to the man who joined its athletics section in 2013.

It always feels weird to see French names used in non French speaking countries, I guess it's either “cute” or “classy”.

Milazzo is a municipality in the Metropolitan City of Messina, Sicily, southern Italy.

Several civilizations settled in Milazzo and left signs of their presence from the Neolithic age.

In Homer's Odyssey, Milazzo is presumably the place where Ulysses is shipwrecked and meets Polyphemus.

The city stands at the beginning of a peninsula about 8 km long (Capo Milazzo) in the Tyrrhenian Sea, in a northerly direction.

The history of Sicily is vast, rich in history, legends and nostalgic nuances and the castles tell it in their vicissitudes.

From the Arab conquest to the Norman one, passing through the Spanish influences and the rich Sicilian Baroque. There are more than 200 castles, fortresses and strongholds on the island.

The Castle of Milazzo, also known as the Fortified Citadel of Milazzo, is a fortress located in the homonymous city in the province of Messina. It, and the whole area included in the enclosure of the Spanish walls, represents the largest fortified citadel existing in Sicily with an area of 7 hectares and 12,000 square metres occupied by buildings.

The fortified citadel is one of the few examples of military architecture in which there are still defensive systems created over the course of 10 centuries by those who ruled this territory.

Ostriconi beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in Corsica, at the entrance to the famous Agriate desert, known for the picture-perfect coastline.

The Agriates desert is a territory bordered to the south by a mountain range, the Serra di Tenda, and on all other sides by the Mediterranean Sea.

The beach can only be accessed by boat, or on foot from a footpath which leads off the main road, and from which you will have a breath-taking view.

The 800m of fine sand and white sand dunes make this place absolute paradise for holidaymakers and the locals of central Corsica.

The Citadel of Calvi stands proudly above the town, a breathtaking backdrop of rich history and heritage.

It invites you to stroll its cobbled streets and discover the world in which Christopher Columbus was born. You'll find the remains of the house where he was born.

Another reason why the Citadelle is so popular is its privileged geographical location. Perched on its rocky promontory, it offers a 360-degree panoramic view of the town, the marina and the mountains jutting out into the sea. Its cobbled streets and typical Genovese houses tell the story of the town in their own way.

Château de Costaérès is a unique architectural gem nestled on the rocky islet of the same name on Brittany's Côte de Granit Rose. Built in 1896 for the Polish mathematician Bruno Abakanowicz, this neo-medieval manor house is a veritable emblem of the region.

The Côte de granit rose is one of the many choronyms of the French coastline: the granite outcrops are predominantly brown to pink in color, and it is this physical characteristic that gives rise to this tourist name.

Apart from its distinctive color, the coastline is dotted with chaotic clusters, the jewel in the crown of which is the coastal path.

Étretat is best known for its chalk cliffs, including three natural arches and a pointed formation called L'Aiguille or the Needle.

From bottom to top, the arches visible here are the Manneporte, the Porte d'Aval, and the Porte d'Amont (the smalest one, after the city).

The Needle is a witness to the geological past of the Etretat cliffs.

It has become famous the world over, inspiring painters and writers alike.

In the Arsène Lupin universe, the legendary Hollow Needle contains the most fabulous treasure ever imagined, a collection of queens' dowries, pearls, rubies, sapphires and diamonds... the fortune of the kings of France.

Surrounded by cliffs, the beach of Étretat is relatively sheltered from prevailing winds.

This is a popular place to watch the sun set over the horizon.

The beach is made up of pebbles. These pebbles are a natural bulwark, necessary to protect the coastline. In fact, they contribute to this protection by acting as a "wave damper", in the same way as artificial stonework would.
